The ARTAS iX system is an FDA-cleared, robotic hair restoration device. This groundbreaking minimally invasive hair transplant system is also known as robotic follicular unit extraction (RFUE) – a procedure that is essentially pain-free and does not involve the traditional incision of the scalp. The ARTAS delivers precise, natural-looking results without leaving a linear scar.
Using innovative technology, the NeoGraft system delivers a minimally invasive hair restoration procedure for men and women also using the FUE method. Hair follicles are gently removed from a donor site and then implanted where you need them. NeoGraft utilizes an automated handpiece, which gives patients little to no discomfort during the hair transplant procedure. The technology delivers natural-looking results, no visible linear scar, and a quick recovery time.
The Lumen Center offers two of the most advanced hair transplant systems available. The Lumen Center is the only hair transplant clinic in the Philadelphia area to offer the revolutionary ARTAS iX robot – the latest technology in hair transplantation. We also offer the innovative NeoGraft device.
Older hair transplants often look obvious and unnatural, and the surgical strip method leaves a scar. The Lumen Center provides patients with the most advanced hair restoration technology that yields results that are completely natural-looking and undetected. Your new hair grows in gradually, reducing the chance that people will notice the procedure. Your friends and family will comment that you look better, but the results from your hair restoration are subtle and natural.
FUE stands for “follicular unit extraction.” The FUE method of hair transplantation removes individual hair follicles from the scalp in their naturally occurring groupings of about 1-4 hairs and are then placed in the areas of the scalp where balding has occurred. Both the ARTAS iX and NeoGraft systems deliver automation of the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method, the most advanced technique in the hair transplant industry.
FUE hair transplant is a very safe, minimally invasive, and relatively minor procedure.
FUE is far superior, especially the ARTAS iX and NeoGraft systems, because they produce natural-looking results that mimic the hairline. With no scalpel incision or stitches, there is no scarring, and recovery times are fast. Without a linear scar on the back of the head, you can wear even a short hairstyle.
The ARTAS iX and NeoGraft systems are both effective, but the ARTAS iX system has some important benefits for patients. This physician-guided robotic system harvests healthy hair grafts and ensures that no area is “over-harvested.” The 3D mapping feature is another incredible feature. However, NeoGraft is also effective and can often produce larger graft counts. There are benefits to both innovative systems, and the two are frequently used in combination to tailor treatment plans.
The ARTAS iX Robotic Procedure is a minimally invasive hair restoration solution that leverages digital imaging and precision robotics to harvest healthy grafts for transplantation. Unlike the earlier methods of hair restoration, there is no need for the surgical removal of a strip of scalp from the back and sides of the head, no linear scar left after surgery and no need for stitches or staples to close the wound. The benefit is a quick recovery time and the ability to return to normal activities and work sooner.
The NeoGraft Procedure is also a minimally invasive hair restoration solution that carefully extracts follicles individually and does not use strip harvesting. The grafts are gently removed and with “no touch” follicle implantation, they are safely and effectively delivered to the area with thinning hair.
The ARTAS iX Robotic and NeoGraft procedures use your own permanent growing hair, typically from the back of your head, and the follicles are then implanted to the thinning areas of your scalp. As this hair is not susceptible to the conditions that cause male pattern baldness, transplanted hair will last a lifetime.
The ARTAS iX Robotic Procedure usually takes from four to eight hours as determined by your doctor to achieve your hair restoration goals. You are comfortably seated during the process, and Dr. Kwak and staff are there with you to maximize your comfort throughout the procedure.
Recovery time with the ARTAS iX and NeoGraft procedures is less than with most surgical cosmetic procedures. As there is no surgical incision or stitches required, healing time is short. You can usually go back to your daily activities after a day or two and the donor site will heal in approximately a week. You will have a follow up visit the morning after the procedure to examine your scalp and to teach you how to take care of your newly implanted hair.
Transplanted hair grows naturally in phases. New hairs are seen about three months after the procedure and will continue to increase over the course of a full year. At approximately six months, you will enjoy a noticeable improvement and after a full year, you will see final results.
The FUE procedures offered at The Lumen Center are provided on an outpatient basis and require only a local anesthetic. The patient feels virtually no pain. Some patients can experience minor discomfort and swelling post-procedure, which subsides in 1-3 days.
The amount of grafts needed varies from person to person. To find out what to expect during your procedure, we invite you to schedule a free consultation at The Lumen Center.
Treatment costs will be determined during your consultation at The Lumen Center and depend on the amount of new hair you desire. We will discuss the procedure pricing as well as available payment options.
