Chemical Peels in Philadelphia, PA

There’s a smoother, younger-looking complexion underneath the outer layers of your skin. You can uncover your best skin and attack issues at the cellular level with skin resurfacing. A chemical peel is a popular, noninvasive option.

What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

Peels are uniquely formulated with a precise combination of acids and vitamins working together to help erase fine lines and wrinkles, shrink enlarged pores and build collagen and elastin to tighten skin. They are extremely effective in reducing or eliminating hyperpigmentation including melasma, the most difficult pigmentation issue to correct.

Benefits of the VI Peel®

At The Lumen Center, we use the VI Peel, which contains a synergistic blend of powerful ingredients suitable for all skin types. The VI Peel is versatile and can improve many different skin concerns. It’s effective for all skin types, including dark skin. Benefits of this treatment include:

The VI Peel Treatment

The procedure is very quick and painless. Depending on the condition of your skin, our aesthetician might begin with a light microdermabrasion treatment to remove dead skin cells. She will then cleanse the skin and administer the VI Peel. You may feel a tingling sensation, but it will subside within a few minutes. You are provided with aftercare products and instructions.

"I recently saw Melissa for the Laser Genesis Medical Facial. I was a little nervous because I have sensitive skin, but she handled it expertly! She picked a mask to best suit my skin type and went lighter on the exfoliation. She explained everything as she went along and checked in frequently to make sure I was feeling ok. It was a smooth, relaxing process and people told me my face was glowing after!"

The Recovery Process

Normal activities can be resumed immediately after the peel. After your treatment, your skin will look slightly tan, yellow or red. On day 2, you will start to peel with heavy peeling on days 2-4. Any pigmented areas might appear slightly darker. By day six or day seven you will be done peeling and the results are dramatic. Peel results will last as long as skin is maintained. There are no restrictions. We recommend avoiding heavy sweating for the first few days after the peel. A daily moisturizer will help heal the skin and reduce irritation, and sunscreen is highly recommended.
